Movie Snippet: The Bourne Legacy

The Bourne Legacy (Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Ed Norton): Thumbs Down.

A very lacking origin story, which according to the rules of my blog, I won't detail why. Not that there's actually anything to spoil though - bazinga. Bad pacing mixed with either intentional or unintentional horrible camera work made my mind wander away from the movie at multiple points. I was surprised to see that this was the same guy who wrote and directed Michael Clayton. Bottom line, I didn't even get that feeling of 'having fun' from watching this movie.

I saw Jeremy Renner in SWAT, The Assassination of Jesse James, The Hurt Locker, and The Town, all of which he did well in, especially the latter two, both of which I liked. Then I saw him in Mission Impossible, Avengers, and now this horrible mess. I don't know what happened, but as soon as he stepped into franchise mode, he just lost his edge. It's not to say he's horrible in this movie or any of the other ones, but it just seems the characters are not right for him. If they used the Ultimate Avengers version of Hawkeye (the one with the murdered family), that would be something to see, but it'll almost never come to pass. But next thing we know though, he'll be doing romantic comedies ala Gerard Butler.

For those counting, I used 'horrible' three times prior to this sentence to describe various facets of this horrible movie and I am aware of it.
