Movie Snippet: The Descendants

The Descendants (2011, George Clooney, Shailene Woodley): Thumbs Down.

Two Clooney movies in a row, one good, one bad. But hey, this is the one he got nominated for an academy award for, so the fact that I hate it makes the world right again.

I don't know, I just don't think Clooney has the full range to make something like this work. He plays a nice "cool cat", and a decent "angry guy", but I don't buy his depressed, sad face. Or the blank, moody ones.

It also doesn't help that there were zero explosions in this movie. He could take some directing lessons from Michael Bay ... I'll let you all decide if that was a joke or not.
