The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is still awaiting news of a true sequel, but Haruhi-chan does a pretty fine job of passing the time while satisfying our need for that Haruhi fix.

Broadcast on Youtube.com by the Kadokawa channel, The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya is a series of shorts (varying from 4 to 8 minutes each) starring the characters from the first series. The dramatic tension from that series is completely eliminated here, and we're left with funner, day-to-day windows into the lives of the Haruhi-dan. Fan favorite Yuki Nagato gets a lot more air time this time around and for good reason - her mini's are good fun to watch.

Folks who haven't seen the first series can probably catch on quick, but might miss out on some of the more subtle jokes. I enjoyed this newer series as much as the original, and I think you will enjoy it as well.
